Lua Preta is a Polish-Angolan collaboration. Polish DJ Jakub Smogur aka DJ Mentalcut has teamed up with vocalist Ms. Gia of Angolan descent who grew up in Poland in the late 80ies and early 90ies. The EP „Polanquinha Preta“ from which the bass-heavy track „Noemia“ is taken tells the story of Ms. Gia. Isilda Viegas, who is featured here, is in fact the mother of Ms. Gia and sings in Forro, a creole language native to her homeland and after being banned by the Portugese colonialists today only spoken by around 70 000 people worldwide.
